How to Enable File-Level Encryption in Syncrify.

File-Level Encryption is when you encrypt files on the individual level. All your backup data is encrypted in-transit and at-rest, but you are free to take the extra security measure of encrypting your files before we encrypt your backup volume! This means that, theoretically, if your backup volume was ever compromised, the perpetrator would be stopped by this additional security measure.

Open your Backup Client program.

  • 'Backup Client' on Windows, 'SyncrifyClient' on MacOS X.

  • Navigate to, you guessed it, Encryption! You will see within the main section of this window there are three tabs along the left side - Scheduler, Advanced, and Encryption.

  • Click the Enable Encryption checkbox and set the password, retype the password to verify they match (You should use a password different from your Syncrify Account login).

  • Click Save

  • Your data will now be encrypted before being sent to the server.
